NEW CLUB AT TAKAPUNA. Considerable interest was manifested at a public meeting held at Takapuna on Friday evening to consider the proposal to form a bowliDK, croquet; and tennis club. . Mr. E. W. Alison presided. Tho promoters stated thev had interviewed some of ; tho leading residents of the district, and were assured of liberal financial support. A substantial sum of money had already been promised. After some discussion it was decided that a ohab be formed, and a committee consisting of th© following gentlemen Was appointed to complete the purchase of two acres of land, being part of "the Shakespear Estate, and make other preliminary arrangements: — Messrs. Alison, Corry, O'Neill, Quick, Blomfield, Bradstoet, Newcomb, and Grimwade (secretary). There is every indication that a strong club will, bo formed. , ,ar> y k REMUERA GREEN. • The final of the King's Birthday tournamont was played on Saturday afternoon, and resulted in a win for Dingwall's rink. The scores were: — Choyce, Steel, Baxter, Dingwall (skip), 16, v. Lennox, Horrocks, T. Mahoncy, Roberton (skip), 13. WAIHI SEASON OPENED. [BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Waihi, Saturday. The Waihi Bowling Club officially opened the season on the municipal green this afternoon, the function being well attended by bowlers and onlookers. The arrangements were excellent, the secretory (Mr. R. H. Noonan) and members of committee doing everything possible to make tho afternoon's sport enjoyable to the visiting bowlers and guests. The president (Mr. Jas. H. Evans) declared tho green open, and welcomed the visitors, after which a match between teams representing tho president and vico-presidente was played, the latter winning by 20 points. The total for tho four rinks was 92 against 72. Appended are the scores: — President's—Henry, Spencer, Broadfoot, Guthrie (skip)—l4, v. Vice-presidents'— Newth. Wooller, Coutts, Morgan (skip)—3l.
