POLICE COURT NEWS.

' DRUNKENNESS. At the Police Court on Saturday morning, before Mr. C. C. Kettle, S.M., one first offender forfeited bail amounting to ±,1. A. gumdigger from Northern Wairoa, whose ago was 83 years, was charged with being drunk in the Domain. He stated that he had no friends to go to, and lived by himself in a wharo. He was quite willing to go to a home for the rest of his days, and the magistrate remanded him for a woek, in order that the police might make arrangements for his reception at the Costley Home. A first offender, who came from Glasgow, and who had been in the colony three weeks, was fined 5s and costs. Frederick Cross, for being disorderly while drunk,, procuring liquor while prohibited, and for being an habitual drunkard, was sent to Pakatoa for 12 months. .
