Drainage .< Board wrote ''giving; particulars 1 of certain owners of land; in ithe Taniahere parish ! who proposed to -rate ■ themselves for a special | loan towardß cleaning but ■ and deepening the out- ! let drain, and on their behalf he wishej to know what the Hautapu Board, would; contribute towards, the:.coat,- seeing that it would benefit the Hautapu distriot. The letter was received It I was decided to reply to r a communication from j Mr. T. H. Kelly that the i Board did not supply flood-gates to prevent cattle getting from one pro- ; perty to another. = The i cleft reported that the assessors had again gone over the land in the-0 drainage district and had made a few alterations It was decided .to hold a.special meeting on the 22nd mat. to discuss the matter of the necessary ' rating to provide interest and sinking fund on the loan. Mr. M. li. Watking wrote complaining that his land was over-assessed. He urged the Board to be careful and keep down expenditure. It was reported that another: settler had threatened the first man who attempted to put a spade on his property to dig drains. The Xamahere. Road Board having declined to pay over- the £5 it had promised to contribute towards the cost of Clark's bridge, it was resolved to hold Mr. Clark personally responsible
