GISBORNE-MOTU RAILWAY.

PUSHING ON THE WORK. [BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN correspondent.] ' - Gisborne, Saturday. Survey operations in connection with the construction of the Gisborne-Motu railway have advanced steadily of recent months, and the line, it is , has been located as far as Raukaroa. Construction work has been pushed on to within two miles of Raukaroa. The number of men employed on construction has been reduced to about 400. A temporary station is being formed near the Waihuka tunnel. ' The rails have been laid to" the smal} bridge, a mile and a-half beyond the tunnel (27£ miles), and this structure is expected to be completed about Christmas, when plate-laying 'will be resumed and the promise that the rails will reach >he site of the viaduct at Otoko towards the end' of the present summer should be easily fulfilled. -
