BAPTIST "ECHO" MEETING.

The Tabernacle School Hall was well filled last evening, when delegates who recently" returned from Wellington gave accounts of tho Baptist Conference held in that city. The Rev. H. Knowles Kempton presided. "First Impressions of a New Zealand Baptist Conference" wero given by the Rev. Howard Elliott, of Mount Eden, who expressed himself gratified with the magnitudo of tho work done at the assembly, its quality, and the personnel of the workers. "Sunday-schools,,and Young People's Movements" wero reported upon by Miss Muriel Moses. The Rev. Alfred North gave some interesting news of the rapid progress of Home Mission work within the Dominion, stating that there were more young men than ever offering their services, while the . Biblo classes were committing themselves to the support of a number of the missioners on tho field. Mr. W. A. Kendon traversed tho addresses which had been given at the great men's meeting in the capital city. " Foreign Missions" wero spoken of by the Rev. E. A. Kirwood, who spoke of thostrong missionary spirit pervading the whole conference. Mr. H. M. Smeeton gave some particulars concerning ' the finances of the Baptist Union, and urged a larger circulation of the denominational organ—the Baptist. Mr. 0. G. McHattie, mission pastor of the Richmond and Otahuhu churches also spoke. - ' .
