THE DRAINAGE OUTFALL.
1 AN ONEHUNGA PROTEST. At tho meeting of the Onehunga Borough Council on Monday evening the Mayor (Mr. John Rowe) made reforcnco Co the petitions being sent to Parliament praying that the outfall in connection with tho Auckland drainage sewer be diverted to the Manukau instead of at Okahu Point, in the Waitemata. He said it behoved every local body along the Manukau to enter a protest against the proposal prayed for in the petition. Bv-and-bye there would be a Greater Auckland, but there was also going to be a Greater Onehunga, as Mount Roskill and a part of Epsom would come their way. There was a movement in favour of draining all the area falling towards the Manukau into that harbour, and Onehunara was already about to carry out its own drainage scheme. The advice and recommendation of eminent engineers favoured the Auckland outfall at OrakeL and ho (the Mayor) considered that the parties responsible for tho petition had a "pretty good front." Several of the councillors endorsed .the protest of tho Mayor, after which the latter moved, and it was agreed to unanimously, "That a letter lie - sent to the member for Manukau, Mr. P. W. Lang, M.P., asking him to do his utmost to block any Bill brought before Parliament to drain from Auckland city into the Manukau, also that tho Mount Roskill and Mangcro Road Boards bo asked to co-operate in opposing the petitioners' proposal."
