Dunedin has lung been looked upon as the poorest show town, from a theatrical standpoint, in New Zealand. A well-known manager in a recent interview said: — '' Dunedin is still the worst of the four centres for show purposes. J don't know why—but there it is. The north is warmer ; its people more genial and warm-blooded, and they enjoy themselves. It really appears a, crime to enjoy oneself in Dunedin. Scotch? Maybe. Yet 1 believe there is more money to the individual in Dunedin than in any of the North Island centres. It would pay some managers to play the North Island alone. The South Island is Unfortunate, for not only are Ghristchurch imd Dunedin not to be compared with Auckland and Wellington as show towns, put the sub-towns are also much poorer than those of the North Island."
The monthly meeting of the Auckland fnanch of the Liberal and Labour Federation, will be held in the Oddfellows' flail, Cook-street, to-night, when matters in _, connect ion with the Costley Home episode and the Police Commission will iwae up for discussion..
