Horses: On Friday, at the Durham Yards, there was an average yarding of horses, which sold at late rates. Heavy draughts sold at from £27 10s to £36; medium do., £22 to £31 35»; hacks and light harness horses, £6 10s to £25. The thoroughbred stallion Gladstone realised 290 guineas and the heavy draught stallion Arawa 150 guineas. On Wednesday we held a sale at Whitford. There was a good muster of stock of all descriptions, and prices were good. Dairy cows sold at from £4 2s 6d to £7 17s 6d ; do., heifers, £4 7s 6d to £7 ,12s 6d; backward do., £4 to £5 15s; calves, lis to £1 12s 6d. Sheep: Hoggets, 12s 9d. Horse, cart, and harness, £14 ss; horse, £15. On Thursday we held a special sale of dairy cattle, when 300 were yarded. There was a good attendants and prices were satisfactory, although not quite so high as the,previous month. Dairy cows close to profit sold at from £5 7s 6d to £9; backward do., £3 12s 6d to £6 2s 6d;" bulls, £3 2a 6d to £6 6s. At Wuluku On Saturday we had an average yarding. Dairy cows sold at from £5 10s to £9; do., heifers, £4 5s to £7; empty cows, £1 15s to £2 19s. Steers: Yearlings, £1 18s to £2 6s; two to three-year-old do., £2 37s 6d to £5; calves, I** to £1 Bs. Sheep: On Tuesday sheep were yarded at the Newmarket Yards ia average numbers. Wethers sold at from 12s 6d to £1 4s 6d for two pens of extra large well fatted ewes, 12« 6d to 17s 9d; hoggets, lbs to 14s; spring lambs, 12s 9d to 15s. Pigs: Porkers sold at from 19s 6d to £1 17s; weaners, 10s 6d to 14s; baconers, £2 2s to £3 2s. We submitted and sold large catalogues of hides, skins, and tallow on Tuesday, all lines meeting with good competition at late rates. Hides: Market firm. May Queen quotations declined a few pence at the mid-day call, and a rumour was in circulation that there has been a temporary cessation of pumping owing to a mishap, which probably accounts for the easier market now prevailing for May Queen scrip.
