THE INSURANCES.

WELL-DISTRIBUTED RISKS.

A list of insurances, which is given below, and which is complete so far as it was possible to ascertain particulars yesterday, shows that the losses are spread over a large number of offices, and that no offices are heavy losers, those that had taken large lines having reinsured down to comparatively small amounts. The New Zealand office, whose total insurances amounted to. £7850, had this amount reinsured down to £1500. Of the other New Zealand offices, the National had risks amounting to £600, the South British one policy of £200, arid the Standard one of £100. The offices holding the largest risks in the building held reinsurances. -The total insurances on the building destroyed and the, contents are about £30,000. The appended list includes risks in adjoining

buildings"' (only slightly '' damaged), and these are not ; included in the total given above. In addition to the policies in the Royal Exchange, there are some insurances with the head office of that company in Wellington. The list is as under: — Arthur M. Myers (owner of Strand Arcade) : On building— in New Zealand, £3500 in Atlas, £3000 in Alliance, £1000 in Guardian, £1000 in Northern, £500 in Australian Alliance: total, £14,000. Campbcll-Elirenfried Company: £500 in Royal Exchange on office fittings, etc. British and Continental Piano Company: On stock—£lsoo in United, £1250 in Sun, and £500 in Victoria: total, £3250.

Piccadilly. Tea Rooms: £500 in New Zealand.

Miss Waugh; milliner':. £600 in London, Liverpool and Globe.

Skelton, Frostick, and Co., Elliott-street: Soot* slightly damaged, £3000 in Royal. Albert Brewery: £19,000 on building and content* (slightly damaged), in NewZealand (this amount is considerably reinsured); £2500 in London, Liverpool and Globe.

Strand Book Arcade: £700 in Ocean. Mrs. Binns, ladies' hairdresser: £150 in Ocean.

H. Prior (Strand Cafe): £350 in Norwich Union.

K. A. Blakcy, indent agent, £250 in Boyal Exchange. T. Mitchell, manufacturers' agent: £3750 in Royal Exchange.

D. Palmer, outfitter: £800 in Northern, and £500 in Commercial Union.

Leonard and Harrison, indent agents: £750 in London, Liverpool and Globe, and £400 in North British.

J. Lethaby, umbrella manufacturer: £100 in Standard.

. G. Robinson, tailor: £150 in New Zealand.

G. Gregory: £200 in South British. E. Crouch, indent agent: £150 in Royal. P. B'. Hume, hairdresser: £100 in Royal.

Liddle and Co.: £600 in Royal. P. M. Demur, medical specialist: £400 in National.

B. C. Chilwell, architect, £100 in National.

P. Darby, owner of Thistle Hotel (partly damaged): £4000 in Commercial Union.

R. Noton, licensee Thistle Hotel: £1250, and £500 on furniture, in North British.

P. J. Delany, licensee Albert Hotel: £1500 on furniture and £500 on stock, divided between Sun and Alliance.

W. Darby and Co., warehouse (undamaged) :. £3000 in Royal.

Bowron Brothers (T. Mitchell, agent): £1687 in Norwich Union.
