RUN fell more or loss throughout the day, hufthe attendance at the Winter Show was not largely diminished, although the financial results are not so good as yesterday.- Today's attendance was principally made up of school children in charge of teachers, who availed themselves of the invitation of the association to attend. The cash takings at the door up to five p.m. exceeded £350. y\r. Jaques, canning expert, delivered an interesting lecture on fruit- and vegetables preserving tin's afternoon, which was. largely attended by ladies. The lecturer took the exhibits in this rlass, and pointed out their defects, if any. explaining at the same time how they could bo obviated.

-A large number of competitors took part in the poultry-judging, which resulted as follows:—W. J. Hall, 153 points, 1; E. Lee, 81, 2: W. Rothwoll, 64, 3.

:" Owing to the late hour at which it was initiated, there were not many competitors for the best-dressed window, but some creditable displays were made. The first award was given to Dillirar Brothers, ami th« second to the Hamilton Cash Meat Company.

To-morrow dogs and children's pets will be on exhibition, and the show will be closed at 11 p.m. The Minister for Education (the Hon. G. Fowlds). who has visited the exhibition on different occasions in company with Mrs. Fowlds, says he is delighted, not only with the number and variety of the exhibits, but also with the quality. 'The display, lie'considers, is an excellent testimony to the productivity of the country, and in congratulating members of the committee upon the success attained, the Minister predicted that in a few years, if the same rate of progress was maintained, the Waikato fixture would be .New Zealand's leading show.
