WAGES IN SCOTTISH MINES.

OWNERS NOTIFY REDUCTION.

(Received July 9, 11 p.m.)

London, July 9.

'Scottish coal owners to-day posted notices notifying a reduction of sixpence per day in the men's wages from the 26th inst., owing to the application of the Eight Hours Act. There are indications that in the event of a strike the stoppage of work will be confined to Scotland.

The English and Welsh Miners' Unions have intimated that they will financially support* the men if they go out.
