THE RUGBY GAME. MEETING OF WEDNESDAY UNION. A meeting of tHo Management Committee of the Wednesday Tradesmen's Rugby Union was held last evening, Mr. Stewart in the chair. A protest was entered by the Bakers' club against the Bntchers' win last Wednesday, on the grounds that the latter club played a man who was not eligible. The- protest was upheld, and the match ordered to be replayed, as both clubs had offended in this respect. The Bakers' club were granted permission to play Greenwood, ho having played a match outside of this union's jurisdiction. Farquhar, one of .the Butchers' seniors, was regraded to junior. The Maori football team consists of 26 selected members from all parts of the Dominion, and is stated .to be the ; finest native combination yet got together. They have been in active training under a coach for tho past- fortnight, and will arrive in Auckland on Friday. The pakeha team which will be published on Friday— to meet them is a thoroughly representative one, the majority of whom arc exmembers of the "All Black" combination. Tho iollowing team has been selected to represent the Maori League in Saturday's match at Victoria Park: — ;, Riki Papakura—a member of the last Maori team, and. brother of Maggie, the famous guide. Ho is an all-round good player, but as a full back has few equals. Tho Australian papers, commenting on his play last season, said "he was the best" full back over seen on the football field in Sydney." . H. MEETING OF AUCKLAND ' ASSOCIATION. The Management. Committee of the Auckland Football Association was held last evening in tho Amateur Sports Clubroom, Mr. W. D. Glaister (chairman) presiding. An application was received from the Huntly Club for a team to be sent from Auckland to play at Huntly. It was decided that the Corinthian Club play at Huntly on the 17th inst. A letter was read from the Railways Department regretting : that, owing to the probability of establishing a dangerous precedent, the Department was unable to agree to tho association's request to stop the Wellington to Auckland express at Huntly on tho morning of the 18th inst. The resignation of Mr. Stewart from the Public Schools Competition Committee was accepted with regret, and he was thanked for past services. The association decided that entries for tho " knock out." cup competition must bo in by next Tuesday night. The North Shore second grade team was granted permission to play a team from H.M.S. Challenger next* Saturday. A deputation from the senior clubs waited* on the association in regard to the appointment of one selector for the representative teams. After hearing the views of tho deputation", which wore tho-outcome of a meeting of players held on Monday evening, Mr. Taklo asked that two other selectors be appointed to act with him. Messrs." [BY .telegraph.— rkEjss association.] Wellington. Tuesday. At a meeting of the council of the New Zealand Football Association to-night it was reported that the Auckland and Otago Associations had failed to support the proposal to bring a South African team to New Zealand. It was decided to abandon the proposal for the present, and obtain the opinion of the affiliated associations on a proposal to bring a team from New South Wales next year.
