UNION HAURAKI. A proposal is afoot; to form a company to acquire and work the claim known as the Union Hauraki,'adjoining'the Old Hauraki mine on the south, at Coromandel. The object in'.'view is to develop the extension of the Old Hauraki reef systems (Legge's lode and others) in a direction where they . ; have not hitherto been exploited. The main > ; reef is stated to have been located in the Union Hauraki ground, and.it is proposed ■; to sink the Zealandia shaft (now down 140 ft) .■ a further 100 ft., and drive north to where . it is expected Legge'-s and the Pacific lode : will junction. The new company is to have a capital of £15,000 in 120,000 shares at 2s 6d each. Of those it is proposed to offer 90,000 to the public at 3d on application, and 3d on allotment, the balance in cails of not roro than 3d. The remaining 30,000 shares (paid up to Is 6d) are to go to the vendors, with £100 cash. ,
MOEWAI CONSOLIDATED. A company, to' be called the Moewai Consolidated is being privately floated to acquis the property at Whitianga known as the "Moewai" claim, comprising 28 acres, with a 10-stamper battery, and a suction gas . engine, both in good running order. It is stated that the ground contains several reefs. It, is intended to open up the No. 1 ' reef, and commence crushing operations at an early date. :\] MAY QUEEN EXTENDED. The directors of the May Queen Extended Gold Mining Company have acquired the property known as the Una, comprising 51 acres, thus bringing up the area held by ; the May Queen Extended Company to about, 80 acres. This will take in the Karaka and tho Una Hills, both of which produced a lot of gold in the early days. WAIHI BEACH. .1 Mr. H. J. Lee, secretary of the "Waihi Beach Gold Mining Company, was yesterday in receipt of a wire from the mine manager, stating that he had lowered the pump lift on Thursday. TAIRUA MONARCH CONSOLIDATED. Mr. .V. Gray, secretary of tho Tairua Monarch Consolidated mine, was yesterday in receipt of the following wire from the ■ mine manager: level: Cut reef. Big flow of water from face." The mine manager, in his weekly report, states that the low level has now been extended 490 ft. ■ There ; is no change to report in the nature of tho country met with. The mullock bands that ; were running along with the reef have given out, and the reef is a nice compact body of ore, showing excellent minerals and gold distributed through the ore.
