A block of land in the heart of the city, j at the junction of Willis and Manners Streets, known as the Heath Estate, has 1 been offered to the Citv Council for street | widening purposes. It was lately pur- • chased by a syndicate, who are willing to I take 4£ per cent, debentures at 40 years. I According to the scheme suggested, the Council could widen both Willis nnd Man- j ners Streets, and carry Victoria-street ! through into the latter portion left, and the increased value by these improvements would, it is asserted, fully cover interest on the total sum.
