On Thursday evening, in East-street Hall. Newton, the " Lyrics" and other artists will render one of their first-class programmes. One shilling will be charged for admission, and the proceeds will be devoted to the- benevolent fund, Auckland Brotherhood. At the sale at the Park Hotel yesterday, conducted by Mr. Louis Lewis, there was a large attendance, and keen competition for lots offered. The whole of the furnishings were disposed of, including the billiard table and two pianos, fireproof safe, etc. This was the first sale of the furnishings of the hotels to bo closed on the 30th inst. Mr. J. Cahill (late Cahill and Co.) has resigned his position as auctioneer to that firm, and has joined the business of Messrs. L. and R.
