THE OPPOSITION AND THE CONFERENCE.
MR. MASSEY'S POSITION.
.The New Zealand Times states that the overtures to Mr. Massey to attend the Defence Conference in company with Sir Joseph Ward came from members of his own patty. I have the best authority for stating that such is not the case. Mr. Masses has documentary and other evidence to prove absolutely that thev did not, and if necessary he will give the names of the people who first approached him on the "subject. The New Zealand Times also suites that there was a difference of opinion at the- Opposition caucus about the iuestic;n Of a broken session. Mr. Massey informed me to-day that the party was "quite unanimous against it. The Opposition wi.., I" "understand, make no attempt to stonewall the Government proposal to adjourn.
