There .was another,' big house, at His Majesty's Theatre oh Saturday/ night to see Mr. J. "C. Williamson's Royal Comic Opera Company in "The- * Merry Widow," and the ■'";piece, was heartily "enjoyed. The sparkling music of "The! Girls of Gottenberg," including such." gracefully scored items as the " Two Step Duet" and "Berlin,; on v the Spree," 'is sure to receive a popular 1 greeting from Auckland audiences. The /company are hearing the end of. their 'highly successful season here, and "The Girls of Gottenberg'' will be tho last production. Mr. Victor Gouriet 'as Max Moddlekopf is said to be a highly-amusing person. Miss - Florence . Young as Elsa, Miss Fanny Dango as , Mitzi, Miss Marietta Nash as the Burgomaster's daughter, Mr. Reginald Roberts as Prince Otto, MrW. S. Percy as ' Brittilbottol, , and Mr. O. R. Bahtock as the Burgomaster, materially assist in the success, of, the piece. . Thursday, Friday, and Saturday next will bo the last three • nights. of the season. Tho only matinee of "The Girls of Gottenberg" will bo given on Thursday, at two p.m., when children will bo admitted at half price. Tho company leave on Sunday next, working overland for the South.

; •. : : OPERA house. : .; There was ! a large attendance at tho Opera ' Houpo on Saturday night, when " Cinderella" was again produced by Messrs. Meynell and Gunn's Company. As at the previous performances,' the various leading* members of the company were well received in their different characters, and most .of tho vocal items had to be repeated. A - matinee was . also held on Saturday afternoon, and ■ was largely attended. ' ■ "Cinderella" will, be repeated to-night. ■ ,■'■,■;■..■ • IPATHE PICTURES. "House full" was exhibited as early as 7.30 at the Royal Albert Hall on Saturday evening. The film illustrating .Hood's pathetic poem, "Tho Bridge of Sighs," continues to be the chief attraction, and to-night and to-morrow will be the last opportunities to see this pictorial masterpiece. The rest of the programme is most interesting, especially the budget of comic films. Tho photo, beauty competition commences on Saturday next, and there are already a largo number of ' entries. TIYOLI THEATRE. Tho popularity of the pictures at the Tivoli Theatre continues undiminished, in spito of, the several counter-attractions in town. ■ Saturday'night was the last night of that series, a complete change taking place to-night. ■ ;- •' -' V-'.-•;.■' ■ ' ■' WEST'S PICTURES. The production of "art studies" is one of the newest features of biograph enterprise, and elaborate arrangements are now being made in Europe for their manufacture. Mr. T. J. West has secured tho Australasian rights of these films, and proposes to show them during his season in His Majesty's Theatre here, commencing next Monday evening. The first of the series will bo a pictorial adaptation of "Drink," in which 'the late Charles Warner made his name famous. Other new and interesting subjects will be presented to the musical accompaniments of Do Groen's vice-regal orchestra. lASKELYNE AND DEVANT'S MYSTERIES. The Maskclyno and Devant's Mysteries combination have concluded their Australasian tour under the direction of Mr. H. Harvard. Tho members of the company sail by the s.s. Victoria to-day, en route for London, via Sydney, and Mr. Barclay Gammon and the other chief artists will reopen at. St. George's Hall, London, in August. The tour has been the most successful of anv magical entertainment that has over visited Australasia; 367 performances have been given, and the promoters have gained, handsome profits, notwithstanding ' the so-called depression in New Zealand and the States. Jp This evening in the Choral Hall the 29th anniversary of the Auckland. Band of Hope. Union will be celebrated with the annual gathering of action song performers. Mr. W. Spragg will preside, and a short address will bo given by tho Rev. J. Cocker A choice programme or miscellaneous items will also be presented.
