A fair amount of business was put through on the Stock Exchange on Saturday. In investment lines National Banks sold at £5 63 6d, with late buyers at £s x 7s and sellers at £5 Bs. D.S.C-'s were don© at 4s. In mining lines Waihis were a shade easier, selling at £9 6s, with closing sellers at £9 6s 6d and buyers at £9 5s 6d. Talismans were firm, with sales at 51s 9d and 525, and further buyers at 52s with sellers at 52s 3d. Waihi Grand Junctions were easier, sales being recorded at from 43s to 42s 6d to 42s 9d to 42s 6d to 42s 9d, with late sellers at 42s 9d and buyers at 42s 6d. Strong American buying helped the, Home and European markets. The woollen trade is good; no stock is accumulating, and the prospects generally are favourable. Estimated values are (according to condition): Superior merino, Is Id to Is 3id; medium merino, Hid to la Oid; inferior merino, 9d to lid; fine crossbreds, all grades, la Id to Is Hid; medium crossbreds, all grades, 10id to Is 2d; coarse erossbreds, all grades, 7jd to Is.
" Messrs. Dalgety and Company, Limited, Auckland, have received the following cable from their London office under date of 21st inst. :— "The wool salts closed firm, and lately reported rates are fully maintained. As compared with closing rates of last series, greasy merino combing, good, were 10 per cent, higher; greasy merino wools of other descriptions, 5 per cent, to 74 per cent, higher. Scoured merino wools' were 5 to 7J, per cent, higher, except short and faulty descriptions. For short, wasty merino wools a change, if ahy, Is in sellers; favour. Crossbred wools, fine quality, were 10. per cent, higher; medium quality were 10 per cent, higher..^,. Wools suitable for America ranged from 15 to :20 per 'cent.; higher. Crossbred wools, coarse, were 7i per cent, higher.
