YACHTING.
VICTORIA CRUISING CLUB'S RACES.
The Victoria Cruising Club hold tho third series of cruising races on Saturday last, in perfect weather, the wind being light from the north. Tho course was from the flagship off Freeman's Bay, to Orakei Wharf. The yachts then sailed to North Shore Yacht Club's picnic at Kohimarama. The officers wore:—Starter, J. Francis; timekeeper, R. Johnson; judge, Commodore G. Mobbcrley. Tho start for the second-class yachts was spoilt through some of the boats being late. The Sceptro was first over the line, followed by the Hetty and Avona. Hetty soon passed Sceptre, and, sailing away on her own, won vor" easily. The following were the finishing '/imes:— Hetty, 4h. Bm. 10s.; Sceptre. 4h. 25m. 10s.; Avona, 4h. 33m.: Fairy 8011, 4h. 40m. On corrected time Hetty is first, Sceptre second, Avona third. The start for the first-class yachts was a good one, tho Lina being first over the line, followed by the Sadie and Ronald. , Ronaki soon passed the rest, and, sailing very fast in tho light wind, finished at 4h.-Bm. Sadio was next at 4h. 14m.. Glady 4h. 23m. 255. The rest gave up before the finish. The ladies' dinghy race, postponed from the club's cruising picnic, was rowed off on Monday. After a irood race, it was won by Miss Braund (Emerald-). 1; Miss Braund (Ronaki), 2; Miss McKay (Glady), 3.
