MAINTENANCE CASE.

PARENTS AND CHILDREN.

At. the Police Court, on Saturday, before Mr. C. C. Kettle, S.M., Ellen and Felix Murphy proceeded against their three I sons, John, Felix, and James, for maintenance. \ Two of the sons, John and I James, were present in Court, a sworn statement of the third having been taken 5 in Wellington, and forwarded. The statement set forth that the son Felix had, on two occasions, materially assisted his father, once having started him in a business of his own, and on each occasion the father had broken out on a drinking Bout. His Worship refused to make an order, and adjourned the case for a fortnight, in order to see if the father could obtain work as a confectioner, that being "his trade. MISCELLANEOUS. A first offending inebriate was convicted, and fined ss, in default 24 hours. Patrick Montgomery, an old man, was charged with having been. drunk and disorderly at Mount Eden railway, station. He pleaded not guilty. Accused was convicted, and ordered to come up for sentence when called upon. James Bottle, a , Maori, for using obscene language in a public place, was fined .20s, in default 48 hours. William Jack pleaded guilty to' having been drunk in Queen-street, and not'guilty to having used obscene language. His Worship fined accused 20s, in default 48 hours' imprisonment. George Norman was charged with having been drunk and disorderly, also with damaging a cab window of the value of 20s, the property of Keenan Bros. He pleaded guilty, and was fined ss, in default 24 hours' imprisonment, on the first charge, and 20s on the second. He was also ordered to pay for the repairing of the window. *
