Christchtjrch, Saturday. A man has been apprehended by the police on a charge of deserting his wife 27 years ago. When the warrant : was issued the man could not be found, and succeeded in evading the police from then till now. -. Lately, however, he got into trouble, and was arrested for alleged forgery, and when inquiries came to be made regarding his past career, the existence of the unexecuted warrant was discovered. The man's wife is stated to bo ; etill alive.
