MINING NEWS.
ROYAL OAK RETURNS. The Royal Oak Gold Mining Company have crushed, one sack of selected ore and 1501b of picked stone for a yield of 87oz llclwt gold, valued at £236 7s 9d. Messrs. Dooloy and party, tributers in the Royal Oak mine, have crushed a-quar-ter of a ton of selected ore and 521b of specimens for 790z Isdwt gold, valued at £193 14s od. WAITANGI. The manager of the Waitangi Consolidated mine telegraphed yesterday stating that he had secured 251b of picked btone from the rise. MAGNET, A telegram was received yesterday from the manager of the Magnet mine stating that there was an improvement in the rise, and that dabs of gold were seen in the hanging-wall branch. TALISMAN. The following cable has been forwarded to the London office of the Talisman Consolidated:—"No. 12 level south, progress 40ft; reef broken up and very mullocky; values low. Have reduced the water 24ft. CROWN. [Br TELEGRAM.OWN .CORRESI'OXDENT.] Waihi, Friday. The work of putting down the concrete foundations for the New Zealand Crown. Company's new electrical pumping plant is in progress on the site, in close proximity to the Ohinemuri River, at Karangahake. TAEROA WARDEN'S COURT. [BY TEI.ICGE.Am. OWN" COItIIESPOXBr.NT.J PaEROA, Friday. At the Warden's Court last evening applications were granted as follows:—Talisman Consolidated, Limited, protection for six months for the Imperial and Adeline Reefs claims, at Karangahakc; C. S. McFarlane, protection for six mouths for the Connecticut claim, at Owharoa; Huamti Cold Mining Company, Limited, protection for six months for the Huanui claim, at Waitekatiri; Alexander Milroy, protection for one month for the Scotia Extended claim, at Waitekauri; H. .1. Hyde, Rothschild special claim of 90 acres, at Karangahake. The following applications were recommended to the Minister: —E. Ryan, Advance special claim of 40 acres, at Maraloto; G. Inglis, Crown North special claim of 95 acres, at Karangahako (with the condition that ho mining is to be carried on within 100 ft of the centre of the railway tunnel); Rising Sun Gold Mining Company, protection for four months for the Rising Sun and Rising Sun Extended special claims. Surrenders were accepted as follows:—E. D. White and B. Flavell, surrender of Ascot special claim, at Karangahake; G. Itiglis, surrender of Tcnilba special claim, at Karangahake. OTAGO DREDGING "RETURNS. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] DUNEDIN. Friday. The following dredging returns are reported: Mystery Flat, 42oz8dwt; Koputai, 40oz Bdwt; ' Waikaia, 17dwt; Hartley and Riley, 30oz 13dwt; Chicago, 230z ?dwt; Masterton, 230z 6dwt; Central Charlton, 220z; New Roxburgh Jubilee, 15oz sdwt; South Waikaia, lloz 7dwt; Kura, 7oz 17dwt.
