MINISTERS' MOVEMENTS.

MR. MILLAR IX AUCKLAND. The Minister for Railways (the Hon. J. A. Millar) received a number of public and private deputations on Saturday morning. In the afternoon the Minister attended the annual picnic of the Newmarket railway employees at Papakura. In the course of a short speech during the afternoon Mr. Millar expressed his pleasure at having this opportunity of meeting a large and important section of the employees, and he referred to the advantages of the men meeting together in pleasant social intercourse on such occasions. He expressed a hope that the spirit of loyalty that had characterised the institution in the past would continue to prevail during his tenure of office. At the conclusion of his address the Minister received three hearty cheers. THE HON. R. McKENZIE. [BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN" CORRESPONDENT.] Wellington, Sunday. The Minister for Public Works (the Hon. R. McKenzie) returned to Wellington from Nelson to-day. On Friday he will leave for the North, accompanied by Mr. H. J. H. Blow, Under-Secretary for Public Works, and Mr. R. W. Holmes, engineer-in-chief, to inspect the proposed routes for the extension of the North Auckland railway. He is due back at Auckland on tie 23rd inst., and will subsequently extend his trip to the East Coast in connection with the proposed new railway between the Auckland district and the Bay of Plenty. ' THE NATIVE MINISTER. [BT TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Gisborne, Sunday. The Hon. Jas. Carroll, Native Minister, has been detained by public business at Wellington longer than he expected, but hopes to get back to Gisborne some time this month. THE HON. DR. FINDLAY. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Rotorua, Saturday. The Hon. Dr. Findlay, Minister for Justice, and Police Commissioner Dinnie arrived here last evening. Dr. Findlay visited Waiotapu prison camp to-day. He will proceed to Wellington, via Taupo.
