FALSE ENTRIES.

[Nt TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Invercargiu., Friday. At the Magistrate's Court to-day Richard Whittingham, brewer, was fined £50 for naking false entries in his books. The case had been previously dismissed by the magistrate on the ground that the errors in the books were due simply to negligence, but the Customs appealed to the Supreme Court, which held there should have been a conviction. Representations will be made to the Minister to have the fine remitted. No costs were allowed.
