The position of affairs of Huntly during the mining deadlock is made clear in the striking series of picture* appearing on the double page of the Aitklan'd Weekly News, published today. These show a, demonstration in the main street, headed by a "death or glory" banner, groups of the unemployed mine-re, a general view of the township and its surroundings, and views of the mine buildings. Other events in connection with the trouble include an interesting snapshot of a prominent figure at tlio head of affair?, and a picture of a mine worker raised to the light of day after spending nine years underground. Among the numerous other current events dealt with in the, number, will be found the stranding of the now steamer Arapawa at Paten, an important Masonic function, the world's largest sailing vessel under full sail at sea, the very latest Directoiro eotume, and a highly-interesting series of pictures dealing with the great awakening of China. Other pictures include a tine specimen of the ribbon fish found on the New Zealand coast, the Royal Cullman diamond, two candidates for the Thames seat, and a series of new views taken on the famous Te Anau-Milford track, showing the magnificent scenery met with on this great Southern tourist route.
