Mr. an-d Mrs. T. H. Lowry, of Hawke'a Bay, left by the Main Trunk tram latt evening for the South.

Mr. John Masters, late of the 65th Regiment, died at the Auckland Hospital on "Sunday at the age of 76 years.

Mr. W. H. Leege, of Vancouver (8.C.), arrived in Auckfand by the Mokoia yesterday, and is staving at the Grand Hotel.

, Mr. A. G. Plate, an American visitor, was amongst the Mokoia's passengers from Sydney yesterday. Mr. Plate leaves for the Islands to-day.

Mr. David Potts, of the Northern S.S. Company's staff, has been promoted from Paeroa 'to a position in the company's service at Te Aroha.

The death occurred at Woodcrpft, Remuera. yesterday, of Miss Fanny Kinder, sister "of the late Rev. John Kinder, D.IE, in her 89th year.

Mr. H. D. Grocott, who has for many years been connected with the General Post Office, has been appointed to the Prime Minister's staff.
