Admiral S perry, on the United States fleet leaving - here on its homeward voyage, declared in a message sent to the Governor, that the greatest benefit of the cruise was the knowledge gained of Great Britain's unvarying goodwill toward the people of the United States. Admiral Sperry added : " There is now a happier prospect of welding the English-speaking nations in the friendship of common interests."
