The long arm of the law grasped a man in Wellington on Thursday on a charge of having unlawfully assaulted a Chinaman in that city jn May last. It appears that the man, who is alleged to have been concerned in the assault with another man (who was duly brought before the Court on the charge), suddenly left Wellington, and got beyond the ken of the police. He returned to Wellington from Sydney on Thursday, and soon after his arrival was arrested on the above charge.
