UNCUSTOMED OPIUM.

A WILY CHINESE.

[BT TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Christchurch, Saturday. At the Magistrate's Court yesterday Ah Kee, a Chinese, was charged with having uncustomed opium in his possession. Accused had to be almost carried into the dock, and appeared to be suffering internally. Station-Sergeant Johnson said that the accused was all right when being brought from the police station to the Court. Apparently he was frightened. The accused only shook his head when asked to plead, but a constable said that he could talk English fairly well. On the application of the police the accused was remanded till to-morrow.
