■v--TAIR.UA BROKEN hills. - £530 FROM. 378 TONS. - TOTAL TO DATE, £88,105. V During September the Tairua Broken Hills Gold Mining Company crushed and treated 378 tons of ore for a return of bullion valued at £530. This shows a decrease compared with the return for August, when 266 tons yielded £573 lis. In the corresponding period of last year 450 tons were treated for £1750. The total amount won from the mine to date is £88,105 10s, as shown in the following table of details:— I ! 5

KARANGAHAKE. " The manager of the Karangahake mine telegraphed yesterday stating that he had cut a 9in loader, in the Kaukani level, of good mineralised stone. This refers to the quartz intersected on the previous day 15ft past the first reef. TEMPLE BAR. At an extraordinary meeting ;of shareholders in the Temple Bar Gold Mining Company yesterday, Mr. A. Wright presiding, a resolution was carried agreeing to the voluntary winding up of the company. Mr. Win. Gray was appointed liquidator. The company's assets were stated at about £110 cash and j a battery. A sum of £1500 has been expended on the property. Tho wind-ing-up resolution will bo submitted to a confirmatory meeting. NEW FOUR-IN-HAND. A syndicate has been working the New Four-in-Hand mino at Waikoromiko, Coromandel, since it was thrown up by the old company. At present operations aro proceeding in the northern end of' the property past the break - which came into the old company's workings. Here, for some weeks past, parcels of picked stone have been coming to hand containing free gold. Yesterday a telegram was received from the mine manager stating that he had secured a further 101b of picked stono and that gold was left showing in tho face at the breaking down. PAEROA WARDEN'S COURT. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Paeboa, Thursday. At the Warden's Court to-day, before Mr. F. J. Burgess (Warden), applications were granted as follows: W. R. Goudio, Alpine special claim of 100 acres, at Marototo; W. R. Goudie, Alpine Extended special claim of 50 acres, at-Marototo; J. W. Thorp and others, protection for six months for Incognita special claim, at Marototo; W. J. Pocock, protection for six months for Durbar special claim, at Waitekauri; W. J. Pocock,, protection ■ for ' six months .for Durbar _ Extended special claim, at -Waitekauri;, Silver Hill Gold Mining Company, permission to work Silver Hill special claim at Karangahake with six men for six months; Waitekauri Gold Mining Company, surrender of residence site and machine site at Waitekauri; Robert Stackpoolo, protection for two months for South British-special claim at Karangahake. [ The following applications were forwarded to the Minister:C. Rao, Golden Stream, claim of 100 acres, at Marototo; T. G. De Rcnzy and others, protection for six months for Silver Stream special claim at Marototo. SOUTHERN MINING. BLACKWATER. The Blackwater Company (Reefton) crushed during September 2080 tons for £3900 and cyanided 1325 tons for £253, total value £4153. ■;,'.'. ' NOTES. ', ' In the Kirikiri mine the reef being operated upon is much improved, and is showing nice mineral at each breaking down. Gold is expected at any shift. ■ " "We have got through the slidy country," says the manager, " and I consider that we have now a decided change for the better, and I hope to meet with colours of gold or picked stone.." The manager of the Dixon's Consolidated mine, Thames, reports that the crosscut is now. in 20ft from the boundary line.'The country is firm, and several quartz stringers have been cut through. Water has also been making in the face, and from the general appearances the r manager states that a reef may come to hand at any time. The parallel reef is keeping about the same course. In the crosscut on the footwall ■of McIsaao's leader in the Kapowsi mine, Gumtown, nothing payable ' has yet been met with, though, the manager states, a littlegold is seen all through the dirt broken. At No. 1 level a well-defined seam is being driven on, which is a continuation of the cross-leader. A- little gold is seen every day, but not in payable quantities. In the stopes on the cross-leader over No. 2 level very good prospects can bo obtained in a seam about Ift wide. Thero appears to be a small block left in here, and the manager is" preparing to work it..' .
