DOMINION ROAD BRIDGE.
A lotted was received from the Hon. ,Fow]ds at last, night's meeting . of the Mount Eden Borough Council, intimating that he had made representations to the Minister for Kailways in connection with the proposed widening of Dominion Road bridge. The Department had agreed that when the Council made up/the approaches it would extend the walls 12ft at each end of the bridge, so as to be capable of retaining the neees- ' sarv fillings required to form ; the ap-'* pronclies. The Mayor (Mr. 0. Nicholson) described . the letter as " satisfactory as far as it went," and declared, amidst laughter, that he thought his candidature for the rev Lynn seat had lent considerable assistance in. the matter. On th& motion of the Mayor, it was decided to forward a letter of thanks to Mr. Fovvlds' foi his efforts, and also to discuss the question at a special meeting of the Council on Monday evening next. The proposal to raise a loan, in order to provide funds for the carrying out of the work, will then be brought up.
