CUSTOMS REVENUE.

THE QUARTER'S RETURNS. > For the three months ended September 30 ; last the- Customs revenue at Auckland amounted to £220,648 3s 4d, as compared with £233,938 16s 3d for the corresponding , period last year. This shows'a'decrease ,;.:',>. of £13,335 12s lid for the period juit closed. "Beef duty amounted to £6308 17s 8d (£5473 IBs;::;.;. Id). The Chinese poll-tax benefited the ' ( revenue by £2400 (£500). The Shipping and Seamen Act yielded £3265 14s 4d , (£3097 7s 6d). The taking over of the ;(< oyster beds by the Government increased . the revenue by £2796 Is 5d for sales mads .\- . during the past three months. The local :;,;•- revenue included gold duty amounting to £7551 15s 7d (£9991 15s 9d). The'contri.
