[BY TELEGRAPH.— COKEESI'ONDENT.] Saturday. The' Argentine correspondent of the Christ-church Press reports that the officials of the Live "Stock Census Commission, which required the assistance of 30,000 persons, have completed their returns for forty departments in the province of Buenos Ayres. The number of cattle in the 40 departments was 3,879,289, as against 2,930,018 in the year 1895, thus showing an increase of 949,271. The total number of sheep in the forty departments is stated to be 15,927,541, as, against 23,336,605,' thus showing adiminution of 7,409,064. The value of the cattle and :sh«ep is given as 288,596,530d015. The returns of other 62 departments of the province have to be compiled. The head, of the Commission states that the diminution in the number of sheep is more than compensated for by the increase of cattle and the improved quality of, both these classes of animals. , • ■
