CHRISTIAN ENDEAVOUR CONVENTION. Tiik 16th annual convention of the' Auckland Provincial Christian Endeavour Union was continued in St. James' Hall, Welling-ton-street, on Saturday evening, when the junior rally was Held. The Rev. H. Knowles Kempton presided over a largo attendance, the children and others taking tho leading part in the service being grouped on raised platforms at the end of tho hall. Representatives from the various societies in tho district; responded to the. roll call in text or song, and tho junior banners were presented, both being gained by. the Auckland Central Mission Junior Society. One was awarded for the greatest increaso in membership during the year, and the other for the ■ largest gifts to foreign missions. The Rev. E. A. lCirwood, the now president, addressed those present, making special reference to the work of the society as it concerned tho children. Various hymns suitable to the occasion, and a dialogue, "Missionaries, to Tea," were rendered. MISSIONS TO SEAMEN. A short service was held in the local institute of tho London Missions to Seamen last evening. The inissioncr (Mr. R. P. Cowie) gave/an address," and a large number of seamen were present. . ITJEOSOPHY. • At tho rooms of the Auckland TheosophicaJl 'Society, Mutual Info Buildings, the weekly public lecture was delivered by Mr. W. T. Raymond, under the title "The Breath of Life." Tho lecture was very interesting, and dealt with some of the more obscure teachings of occultism on tho nature of the life-force. An interesting discussion followed. At the H.P.B. branch of the Theosophical Society's rooms last night Mr. J. H. Simpson lectured to a largo audience on "The Nature of the Communicating Intelligence in Spiritualistic Phenomena." Discussion followed.
Messrs. In this issue Mr. George Wilkinson an'-' nounces that he is a candidate in the Liberal interest for the Manukau scat at the forthcoming elections. A meeting will be held in the Ponscnby Hall on Wednesday evening, with the object of forming a swimming club. Through an oversight Mr. H. D, Heather's name was omitted from tae members present at the last meeting of the Harbour Board in' committee.'
