EIGHT HOURS BILL.
APPEAL TO MINE-OWNERS. By Telegraph-■ Association.— Copyright. (Received September 27, 4 p.m.) London, September 26. Sir Christopher Furness, MP., the well-known shipowner, addressing a meeting of colliery shareholders at Newcastle, expressed a hope that if the Eight Hours Bill passed through Parliament the mine managers and miners would facilitate the great change in the conditions of work necessitated by the Bill. Throughout the country, he added, the Bill was unpopular.
