DAIRYING REGULATIONS.
TO ENSURE CLEANLINESS. ELABORATE PRECAUTIONS. [BY. TELEGRAPH. — CO:aRESPONr>ENT.J • Wellington, Friday. ';''■' THE now dairy regulations were laid on the table of tbe House this afternoon, but no copies were available until a' late hour this evening l . The fees for registration of dairies are fixed as follows: Not more than' two cows in milk, Is per annum ; more than two. but not more than 10 cows, in milk, 10s per annum. Dairies are made subject to the following provisions: — "**• - (a) Every dairy shall be provided with * cowshed suitable for milking purposes. (b) In every shed where cows are stalled overnight the air space for each animal shall not be less than 600 cubic feet. (c) The floor of every cowshed shall be formed of concreto or other material impervious to water. (d) The inside of the walls and all internal woodwork of every cowshed shall be thoroughly coated with lime whitew»?h, and recoated at least twice a year. (e) All manure and other offensive matter shall be removed to a position not lew.; than 50ft from every cowshed within two hours after each milking, and the floor of the shed thoroughly cleansed. (f) No milk-house or milk-stand shall be within 30ft., or if on the leeward side (with respect to prevailing wind) then within 60ft of any cowshed, stable, stockyard, milking yard, fowlhouse, etc., or within 50yds of any piggery. (g) No cowshed, milking yard, or stockyard shall be within 30ft of any stable, fowlhouse, fowlrun, calf pen, trough from which calves are fed, manure heap, cesspool, closet, urinal, or liquid manure tank, or within 50yds of any piggery. (h) No open water supply of any dairy shall be within 50yds of any piggery, (i) No cowshed shall be within 30ft of any " dwelringhouse or lOOfi, if in a borough containing a population of 500 persons or over. . '.'• / There are several other provisions for the ensuring of cleanliness and the proper cleaning of the cans and other utensils. All cows shall bear a conspicuous metal label marked with the owner's name, and every dairyman, shall have his name legibly painted in letters not less than 2in in height on a conspicuous part of every vehicle used for the conveyance of milk from his dairy. Every dairyman shall immediately after milking (a) strain all milk through an approved strainer; (b) where the milk is not immediately separated, cool it by a method approved by the inspector; (c) where thq milk is immediately separated forthwith cool the cream by a method approved by the inspector. .-
