THE EDUCATION BILL.

KEPT IN THE BACKGROUND. [by telegraph.—special CORRESPONDENT.] • Wellington, Friday. There is nothing new to report in connection with the Education Bill, in respect' to which the Government sustained a defeat yesterday morning. The Bill appeared on to-day's Order Paper as No. 12, a fact that made it apparent that it was intended to keep it in the background until next week-'at least. The opinion is expressed by many members, including those who supported Mr. Wilford's amendment, that the Government will be able to find some way out of the I little difficulty in which they have been placed by the carrying of the amendment.
