STANLEY BAY FERRY SERVICE.
Sir,—As one of a large number of passengers (quite 30 being women like myself) by the 10.30 boat from the bay on Wednesday, I appeal to you for information as to what steps should be taken to prevent a repetition of the scandalous state of tilings which occurred on this occasion. The terry Company sent the Rum to do this trip—and, by the way, she is very often sent, to da trips during the day when most of us womenfolk travel across. On the occasion specially referred to. we had to clamber down an almost perpendicular gangway, which was not long enough to reach the steamer, so had to be supported on an empty kerosene bow It took the men passengers all they knew to get aboard safely, so what chance have women and children on occasions like this. The risk of breaking one's limbs was so great that several declined to try it, and had to stay behind. I would not have taken the liberty of writing you on the matter, but our menfolk appear to bo unable to get the service improved. Matekfamilias.
