Some 16 mm (natives) are engaged in drilling operations, which are paid for by Hie toot and. the blasting by the day, but the natives of the three settlements, who are all interested more or less in the Biiecesa of the enterprise, at the request of the Island Council give their (services free In the removal of the Upheaved rock, which Will ultimately be used in the construction of training walls, one on each side of the ; channel, to keep the backwash from running out that way and rendering the channel useless when there is any sea on. .
