Archer, pastor-elect of ■ : the-' Baptist Church at Napier, is among the passengers by the Oswestry Grange. Mr. D. Cuddie, chief dairy commissioner, is at present on a visit to the Waikato, and was present yesterday at the opening ' ■ of a new dairy factory in the Cambridge district. Mr. and Mrs. Murdoch, of Wellington, are among the passengers by the Oswestry Grange, which arrived at Auckland yesterday. They have been the round trip on the vessel. Mr. C. C. Graham, who has been a stipendiary magistrate in Dunedin for the last 20 years, sat for the last time yesterday, and was farewelled by the legal profession. A presentation was made to him by the swiff of the Magistrate's Court and members of the police force. Heir Benno Scherek. the well-known musician, who has been living in Christchurch for some six months (telegraphs our correspondent), has accepted the appointment of director of Mr. .!. C. Williamson's i: musical enterprises, and will leave for Melbourne in about a fortnight. The salary Is not announced, but it is believed to be somewhere in the neighbourhood of four figures. Since he cam© to Christchurch, ■; Herr Scherek has created.the Christchurch Orchestra, of which he is the honorary conductor. •■ He is also organist of the Catholic Cathedral, and conductor and musical director of the Christchurch Amateur Operatic Society, and the Ashburton Orchestral Society;
