NEW PATENTS ACT.
A FOREIGN CRUSADE. BRINGING BRITAIN TO TERMS. By Telegraph.—Press Association.—Copyright. (Received September 3. 1130 p.m.) London, September 3. The Daily Mail's Berlin correspondent asserts that manufacturers in ■ various countries have initiated a crusade against the British patent [ laws. It is hoped that the countries ' will -mutually enter into favourable ; patent treaties, with a view to isolating Britain and bringing her to terms. _ The principal feature* of the Patent and Designs Act passed by the Imperial Parliament last year was a provision compelling foreign manufacturers to work their patents in the United Kingdom. The Act came into ' operation at the beginning of this year. The Act- has had a deterrent effect on Ger- . man trade with Britain, and Berlin - firing 1 have for some time been urging their Go--1 vernment to take steps to counteract the i serious losses taking place in exports. j ; . __ I
