£200 DAMAGES AWARDED. [Br , TELEGRAPH.— TRUSS ASSOCIATION.] Wellington', Wednesday. A CLAIM of £250 damages for alleged slander was made in the Supreme Court, this; afternoon before Mr. Justice' Cooper and a jury of four by Annie Stewart, wife of Titos. Stewart, labourer, Petone, against Mere Isherwood, .rife of Jeremiah J.sherwood, Lower Hull. The claim was in respect of words alleged to have been spoken to the plaintiff by the defendant at Petone on March 23, '1908. The defence was that the words were not spoken as alleged, and that they were not susceptible to the defamatory meaning alleged. Defendant a-lsc denied that plaintiff had suffered any injury. The jury awarded £200 damages.
