THAMES V. AUCKLAND. The Auckland hockey representatives, who have so far withstood four challenges for the New Zealand Association's shield, will bo callojd upon to defend a challenge from, the Thames representatives to-morrow. The match is to take place at the polo ground, Remuera, and will commence at three o'clock. A special tram service has been arranged for, and afternoon tea will be dispensed by the ladies. The price of admission will bo 6d. The Auckland team is aa follows: Goal: Howell. Fullbacks: Shirriffs, Speight. Halfbacks: Badhain, Porter, Kavanagh. JUNIOR GRADE MATCHES. The junior grade matches will be continued to-morrow, play, however, commencing at two o'clock, in order that players may witness tho representative game. WANGANUI DEFEATS HAWKE'S BAT. [»Y TJ3L,KG«AI»H. PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WanGaNUI, Thursday. The Wanganui hockey representative team defeated Hawke's Bay this afternoon by one goal to nil. Despite the recent rain, the recreation ground was in good order, anxl a fast game was witnessed by nearly 1000 spectators. The local team commenced the attack, but hard hitting on both sides kept the game open and interesting. The first spell ended without score. In the second half Wanganui had rather the advantage, but erratic shooting prevented scoring. A good dribbling rush by Coo and Sharp and a pass to Thomson resulted in the only score during the game. Mr. Wakely acted as referee.
