DAFFODIL EXHIBITION.

FLOWERS OF EARLY SPRING.

J The St. Mark's Ladies' Guild held their ] ! annual "Daffodil at Home," in the Parish ! j Hall, yesterday, when there was a large at- I j tendance of ladies interested in early ; i spring horticulture. The exhibition was j ; particularly attractive on this occasion, i i there being apparently an abundance of the , ; best blooms available, aad the arrangementj i of the flowers left nothing to be desired, i : Decorated tobies and children's basket*) ; ' formed the competitive part of the exhibi- ! ! tion, the former, which occupied the centre • j of the hall, making an admirable setting ; Ito the whole display. Eight tables were i I entered, the first prize going to Miss Craig, I I 'who used daffodils and maiden-hair fern I . with exquisite effect. Second honours were ! | accorded to Miss Towlo (rich purple and j ' while flowers), and third to Miss. Flossie ' ! Edgerly, whose table was tastefully do- j i corated in mauve-coloured flowers. There j were two classes for the decorated basket*. In the first class the prizes were awarded to Elinor Roberton and Bertlia Lusher, and in the second class to Ruth Roberton. and Doris Dive. The prizes were presented by Mis. Can, Mr. 8. Hesketh, and Mrs. Hugh Campbell, Mesdames Seager, Campbell and H. I Clarke acted as judges. I Exhibitions of daffodils were made by I Mrs. McCosb Clark, Miss Hall, the Rev. j .W. Beatty, M.A., Captain McQueen, Meters. Rosser, J. Knox, Grindrod, Bull, J. Hall, and certificates were presented for the collections. A special exhibition of ranunculi was made by the Rev. W. Beatty and Mr. Jas. Hall. The exhibition was under the management of Mrs. Pay ton and Miss Westwood. In the evening there was again a good attendance, a promenade concert being held. Refreshments were dispensed by the ladies.
