MR. ROOSEVELT'S HUNT.
TRIP THROUGH AFRICA. TO WRITE FOR NEWSPAPERS. [from ovk OWN" CORRESPONDENT.] London, July 9. Me, Roosevelt is famous both as a hunter and as an author, and when he is rid of Presidential cares, early next year, he intends to indulge himself in both shooting and wtiting on a scale which ho has hitherto been unable to enjoy. The President's hunting plans for next year embrace the project of travelling to Cairo, and thence through Egypt, Abyssinia, and British and German East Africa. Since the announcement of the expedition his library table has been burdened with books, pamphlets, articles, and letters which enthusiastic admirers have sent' him on the subject of big game hunting, not to mention the countless communications of American business houses anxious to provide him with the best guns, tents, and hunting outfit generally. Some remarkable publishers' bids have been made for "First impressions of Africa," the book Mr. Roosevelt will write describing his hunting trip. The editor of a_ Philadelphia weekly and the editor of a New fork monthly' magazine have each offered him upwards of a dollar (4s 2d) a word, and all expenses. The editor of another magazine conducted by the firm which has published Mr. Roosevelt's books also bids high. It is understood that the President intends to accept the highest offer, but which that is is not vet known
