On the occasion of the Visit of the United States' Fleet in August next, I beg to invite the Citizens of Auckland to Decorate their Private Houses with a liberal display of Bunting, especially those on the route of main thoroughfares. All Warehouses, Shopkeepers, etc.. are asked to co-operate with the Reception Committee by seeing that their Premises are Decorated and illuminated, so that our Guests and Visitors will be impressed with the City's desire to extend to them a cordial and hearty welcome. Public Notice is hereby given that at a Special Meeting held oh the 18th June, 1908, the Auckland City Council made the following Special Order, viz. : — "That the Auckland City Council* doth hereby ir.y Special Resolution intended to operate as a Special Order resolve to borrow an additional sum of not exceeding £9000 sterling (nine thousand pounds) for the erection of additional buildings, additions to railway siding ■ and other additional works necessary for Hie completion of the Abattoir now being erected at the corner of the Main South and Portage Roads, near Otahuhu, under provisions of 'The' Slaughtering and Inspection Act, 1500,' and the Amendments thereof, being unable to provide the necessary funds for such work out of the ordinary revenue of the City of Auckland." " That Hie rate of interest upon such loan shall not exceed 4i per cent, per annum." " 'That the loan be repayable in 21 years."
