CAUGHTIN REVOLING WHEEL.

A LIGHTERMAN'S DEATH. A shocking accident, which terminated in the death of a lighterman named William Johnson, occurred last week at Xaunceston (Tasmania). Johnson was operating a pump in the Union Company's No. 3 lighter, and. was making some adjustment, when he was caught by a- revolving wheel, which tore off one side of his face and inflicted serious injuries on his body and arms. He was taken to the hospital by the Union Company's wharfinger, and died a couple of hours after admission. Deceased was a single man about 50 years of age.
