HIS MAJESTY'S THEATRE. Another very successful presentation of " Fedora*' was given at His Majesty's Theatre by the Meynell and Gunn Company last evening. Mr. Hareourt Beatiy and Miss Madge Mcintosh again scored a triumph in their respective- roles, and the entire performance was received with great enthusiasm. "Fedora/' will be presented for the last time this evening. To-morrow evening Messrs. Meynell and Gunn will stage, for the first' time in New Zealand, the romantic and historical costume drama, " A Beggar on Horseback," written by Edward Ferris, Mr. Hareourt Beatty will appear an Marley Due de Tourney, and Miss Madge Mcintosh as Lady Mary Dudley. The play affords admirable opportunities for splendid scenic effects and magnificent costuming. One of the most sensational features of the production is a realistic fight on tno staircase of the Duke of Stains' reception hall, wherein Marley defends; himself against a score of Pettridge's soldiers, and secures the escape of the Lady Mary and the conspirators. " A Beggar on Horseback" will be presented for four nights onlv. On Thursday "Camilla" will bo" staged, for one night only, and for the final two nights of the season "The Midnight Wedding" will be played. The. plans for the. remainder of the*season are open at Messrs. Wildman and Arcv's.
KUBELIK. This morniuij, at nine o'clock, the plans For the half-guinea scats in connection with the Kubelik concerts wul be opened at Messrs. Wildman and Aiey's. The management anticipates large audiences, and intending patrons, are advised to reserve their seats as early as possible. EUCHRE -\ND BRIDGE PARTY AT CHORAL HALL. A • piogressive euchre and bridge party. followed by a dance, was held in the Choral. Hall last evening, in aid of the funds of the. Society for the Protection of Women and Children and Prevention of Crueltv to Animals. The building had been most- tastefully decorated for the occasion, and the function was largely attended, and proved a decided success, for ■which credit is due to the secretary (Miss Porter), and the ladies' committee. Prizes for bridge and euchre, which games were in charge of Mesdames Rathbone and Devote respectively, were given by Mesdames Louis Myers, Coleman. McDowell. Benjamin. McC'osL Clark, and Miss Outhwaite. Mrs. Benjamin had control of the.supper arrangements. The ladies' committee was as follows:—Mesdames N. A. Nathan (vice-president). Alexander, Benjamin, Brett, Baunne. F. E. Baunie. Bedford, Bloomfield Coleman, Corbett, Moss Davies, Devote, Dargavillo, Goldie, Holland, McDowell, Louis Mvers, A. Myers. L. D. Nathan. Nelson, Purr. St. Clair. Scott, A. Tayler, Thome. Rathbone, Houghton, Greigg. Culling, and the Misses Outhwaite. Coniiollv. and Porter. Music for the dance was supplied gratuitously by Marraige"s orchestra. Prizes for bridge were won by Miss Moss Davis and Mr, G. Tuck, while those for euchre were annexed bv Misses Preece Freeman, Jordan and Davey.
