Despiteflthe numerous criticisms which have been 'evelled at the Superannuation Act- by various- classes of Civil servants, it seems that the service as a whole intends to avail itself very generally of the. newscheme. Last- session, in introducing the measure, Sir Joseph Ward stated that there were about 5000 Civil servants eligible to come under the scheme. Already over 4000 names have, been enrolled for admission as from dune 16, or earlier date, and a number of additionai applications have already been received from men who wish to join the scheme, from June 30, forfeiting their voters' rights. It is expected that the iota! number of adherents of the scheme by the end of the month will be close upon 6000. A large number have come in during the last two days, in time to secure voters' privileges.
