PAN-ANGLICAN CONGRESS.

MEMBERS AT GARDEN PARITY. $ SERVICE IN THE ABBEY. By Telegraph.—Freds Asiociation.—CopytijTrl. (Received June 16, It p.m.; London, Juno Hi. Five thousand members/of the PanAnglican Congress, witp their wives and daughters, attended a garden party given by Lord Strathcona (High Commissioner for Canada) at Knebworth Park, Hertfordshire. An impressive intercession .service on behalf of the aims and objects of the Pan-Anglican Congress was held at noon at Westminster Abbey, and included some gems of penitential music. The hymn, "Come, Holy Ghost,'" was sung with thrilling effect. " The object of the Pan-Anglican Congress/' says the Christian World, "is to" give expression to the thoughts and desires and hopes of Churchmen regarding the spread of the Gospel throughout the world : to take counsel as to the co-operation and co-ordination of missions; the building up of independent Churches: the unity of Christendom, and particularly of the Anglican churches; their relations to other Christian communions: the promotion of a. true. Christian spirit in the dealings of man with man, and race with race: the supply, training, and maintenance of clergy of all races: the ordering of lay ministrations: the duty of the Church with regard to national sins and evils: the social, industrial, scientific, educational, ecclesiastical, domestic, and linguistic problems of all kinds which the Church lias to tine; in fact, any and all subjects affecting the well-being of Christendom and of mankind, so far as the Anglican communion can touch them. The congress presents a unique opportunity for capturing the imagination and heart of many by the greatness of the conception and of the occasion—an opportunity to enable many who have not yet seen it, to see now a vision of the Church of Christ, and of the extension of the Kingdom of God throughout the world—an opportunity to win men to a new enthusiasm for the whole cause of Christ."
